It was far too hot to spend all your time just inside in the air conditioning, or out in the fields getting sunburned among the withering plant life. So she decided to go somewhere where the grass was still green. She was going to the lake. Lily had never been a fan of sunglasses so she squinted to see along the shore ahead of her, walking along the river in her flip flops. Then she came to the place where the river and the lake met and laid out her towel.
Lily was simply wearing her bathing suit with a large white Tshirt over it to protect her skin from the sun on the way over. She perched on the edge watching a few fish and seeing a frog. Now she'd alwayd been a fan of catching frogs, so she thought she'd give it a try, but she tumbled into the cool water, only to rise again laughing.
By now however, her ponytail clung to the back of her neck and her T-shirt served little to no purpose, now becoming utterly see through. And she pulled the wet shirt off over her head as she scrambled out of the water. It was then that Lily realized she wasn't alone.

Danny had been at home working out in the fields all day. That wasn't the normal for him, but now that he had a girlfriend (how that idea thrilled him), he figured he'd need some extra money, though with the way him and Lily were, he didn't think the places they went would be ones that they needed money for. He still wanted the extra cash though.
By mid-day even his father called it a day. It was just too hot out for them to do anything else beneath the sun. Johnny went to who knows where - Danny would have to ask him - and Danny decided to go looking for Lily. So, he hoped in the shower (having been sweating in the field all morning) and got dressed before heading to Lily's house. He didn't expect her to be there, but somebody there could probably tell him where she was.
Once there he met her parents. He'd met the Peake's before, but than he hadn't been Lily's boyfriend. Just his mother was there, and she looked at him intently, but she told him she'd gone to the lake to swim. Danny thanked her and left for home again. He quickly changed to his swimming trunks, keeping his t-shirt the same, and left for the lake. He found her there.
Lily was just sitting on the edge looking in. Before he could make his presence known, she seemed to tumble into the water. Danny took a step foreword alarmed, but when she came up she was laughing, so he relaxed and was quite amused. Lily always amused him. She pulled off her t-shirt that covered her bathing suite and Danny's breath caught in his throat. He swallowed as she scrambled out of the water. Than she seemed to realize another person was there and he decided to make himself known.
"Mind if I join you?" Danny asked, walking up to her, and pulling off his t-shirt. he dropped his t-shirt by her wet one, though far enough away that it would stay dry, and stood next to her. He smiled down at her, and tugged at her wet ponytail slightly.

Her eyes caught up as soon as her ears did.
Danny.
Lily grinned widely up at him, trying not to stare at his chest. She had figured he was strong, but not exactly that strong. he wasn't normally doing hard farm labor, so it was caught her off guard, pleasantly so of course. "Of course not." She said looking up at him, realizing he was getting to see much more skin than he would have before, and now they were together, that made it considerably different from any other time he might have seen her in a swim suit.
Lily wrapped her arms tightly around him (he could deal with getting a little wet, besides, he body would be right up against him, how could he complain?) and kissed him lightly before letting go and jumping into the lake. "Come on." She waved for him to come join her.

Lily's arms wrapped around him and Lily was suddenly getting Danny wet. Not that he had anything to complain about, because one - it was hot out, and two - her body was pressed right put to his, which he didn't mind at all. He wrapped his arms around her waist, and kissed her back when she lightly kissed him against the lips.
When she let go, he reluctantly let go too. He watched as she jumped back into the water. She waved for him to join her and he smiled and jumped in, making sure to splash her as he did so. When he rose from the water, he pushed his hair from his face, for about the fifth time that month reminding himself to go for a haircut. His mother kept on saying that soon he'd be looking like his triplet, and since him and Johnny didn't look much a like, she could only mean Katie (which really, there was no way, his hair wasn't that long).
Danny swam over to Lily and pulled her ponytail out. "I like your hair down," He said, tilting his head to the sound. Than he used the elastic to put his hair up. It didn't work that well, as said his hair wasn't that long, but he managed to get a section into a ponytail.

Lily squealed loudly as he splashed her with water. She should ahve seen it coming, but just the same it through her of guard. And she laughed as she saw him bursh wet hair out of his eyes. "You need a haircut." She teased lightly running her fingers in his hair to get it out of the way. But she didn't really care how long it was. Then he took out her hair tie, causing her wet hair to tumble down around her mostly bare shoulders in strands, since it was so wet and sticking together.
He liked her hair down. She'd remember that. But swimming would be a bit harder if she had to worry about hair getting in her face. Lily giggled as he put his hair up into a part ponytail and shook her head. That was not going to stay in his hair long. "You look like a dork." She told him.
Lily could just touch the bottom of the lake where they were and knew that Danny must have had his feet firmly planted in the sand. So she knew she wasn't risking drowning him as she slung her arms around his neck and looked at him a moment before kissing him, and this time, she didn't pull away.

It seemed Lily agreed with his mother in the fact that he needed a haircut - he just kept on forgetting to get one. He always remembered at the worst of time, when he was busy doing something else. He would go, eventually, when it began bugging him so much he'd have to start stealing his sisters barrettes to keep it out of his eyes. He had actually done it once. Katie had dragged him to the mall and stood there and watched as he got his hair cut, and then threw the barrette out, saying she could never use it again after having seen it in his hair.
Danny made himself look hurt when she said he looked like a dork, and put a hand to his heart as though she had wounded it. But before he could say anything, she swung her arms around his neck and kissed him once more, this time not letting go. Danny's feet dug into the ground, and Danny realized Lily must be just touching the ground, with the space he had above water. But that didn't matter at that time. He wrapped his arms around her waist and kissed her back, lifting her up slightly.

As he lifted her, her feet were off the ground completely and she moved a bit to wrap her legs around his waist. It would be easier for him to hold her that way. But they were wearing so little that she realized it was bringing her body very close to his in a sort of compromising way. She figured he wouldn't mind, not for right then anyway.
One of Lily's hands reached up his neck to play with the ends of his hair lightly, her other arm still looped around his neck, holding herself to his lips. His lips were even sweeter than they had been before and that scared her. She just wanted to be so close to him, and she wasn't completely sure if she was so prepared to fall so hard so fast. Lily ran her tongue gently across his lip tentatively, to ask to deepen the kiss, her heart pounding uncertainly in her chest, her face flushing hot.
Was she allowed to do this? Would he stop them? What did she want? Want did he want? Lily felt a little nervous of doing something he wouldn't want, and pulled her lips away.

When Danny lifted Lily off the ground she wrapped her legs around his waist so it was easier for him to hold her up. It also brought their barely covered bodies closer together. Not that he minded, just if somebody walked by they might think other thoughts of the sight.
Lily began playing with his hair as she continued to kiss him, and Danny continued to kiss her back, holding her tighter. Inside his head he was afraid he would do something that she wouldn't like, and he decided to only continue to do as she did, afraid that he'd do something she thought was not right. Danny just liked Lily so much - so much it scared him. He'd never felt so much as a physical attraction to a girl, besides actually like a girl. What he felt towards Lily was beyond his understanding, and he didn't want to take it too fast for her.
Suddenly Lily's face was flushing hot, and Danny realized that while he'd been thinking he wasn't going to take it at her pace, she was asking to deepen the kiss. Maybe her pace was his. But before he could respond she pulled away. He looked at her confused, wondering what was it that had caused her to pull away, and why her face was so red. He tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and let his hand rest on her cheek, looking into her eyes, searching for what was wrong.

He was looking at her so tenderly that she had to smile back. She'd had a few boy friends before, but she'd never gotten far with them--she hadn't really wanted to. Lily hadn't minded a little screw up, she'd just laugh it off, but here with Danny, she was nervous. "I just don't want to do anything wrong." She murmured turning her eyes from his eyes to his lips. She kissed him tenderly.
"You just, mean so much to me, I don't want to do anything that might make you leave." Lily said, knowing he'd deny ever leaving her side. "It's just hard to believe that I have you." She'd never figured she'd get someone like him. Lily rested her head on his shoulder, landing a kiss on his neck. Lily rubbed his back softly, not sure what else to say or do. She just wanted to be here with him.

"I just don't want to do anything wrong. You just, mean so much to me, I don't want to do anything that might make you leave. It's just hard to believe that I have you."
Lily laid her head on his shoulder, landing a kiss on his neck. Danny began to stroke her hair automatically saying, "I'll never leave you." He paused after saying it remembering his plan to leave town that had slipped his mind since the Ferris Wheel, until then. He shook his head, pushing it to the back of his mind for later. Lily was his center of attention at that time, and had the part of his mind, as she often did.
Danny than chuckled slightly. "I was afraid of doing anything that you wouldn't like," He said. He kissed her on the top of the head before murmuring, "It seems we both can't believe we have the other, and we don't want to do anything to push the other."

Lily smiled. He had chosen her and Oakwood over all those grand dreams of his--at least for now-- and that was so much more than she would have even asked for. It meant so much. And here they were, both worrying over nothing again. She knew she wasn't going to leave him, no matter what he did, and vise versa.
She sat up again and kissed him, cupping his face between her hands. It started soft but she deepened it lightly, placing her tongue between his already parted lips. It was slow, but deliberate and romantic. Lily wasn't so scared anymore, thing would be just fine.
They were more likely to over do it than they were to shy away. It made more sense to her now. "I think i might love you." She murmured against his lips. Maybe it was too soon to say so, and maybe that would scare him more than any kiss, but she could only hope he wouldn't run away from her. Love was a strong word, but the feelings were strong.

Lily was suddenly kissing him again, first softly, but slowly deepening it. They both seemed to understand that the other was terrified of each other leaving, which meant neither were going to leave, no matter if they did something wrong, though they both seemed to want the same thing. The two seemed to be unable to let go of each other as the other.
"I think I might love you."
Danny's heart stopped as soon as Lily murmured those words against his lips. He froze in place, unable to move, the thoughts in his head crashing in a pile up. His breath caught in his throat. The words sluggishly went through his mind as he tried to comprehend them. Once he did, he tried to figure out how to respond to them.
Danny knew he liked Lily. A lot. He knew he couldn't leave town then because it would kill him not to be with her. And the past bit with her had been amazing - the best he had had in Oakwood. Being with her there in the water was fun, and having her in his arms so warm was nice. She always made him smile. He loved being with her. That's when he realized it.
He loved Lily.
Danny knew Lily was probably thinking she had freaked him out - he was still frozen in place, and it had been a couple of seconds - but Danny had need to think it over. And he knew how to respond. She hadn't asked him a question, though in a way, she had.
"I love you," Danny whispered quietly, starring in her eyes, saying it directly, knowing he meant it truly.

Lily was terrified this would happen. Danny didn't say anything, he didn't even move, he was rooted to the spot like a deer in headlights. Lily didn't know what he was about to say and she felt rather silly just hanging their by his waist. Slowly she untangled her legs and dropped back onto her tip toes in the water, waiting for what he was going to say.
And when he spoke and his eyes did at last fix on her she thought she'd never be able to breathe again, because the intensity of the statement was staggering, more so than the heat of the sun against the back of her neck. And Lily wished she hadn't detached herself from him so rapidly.
He wanted her there.
Lily wasn't sure what happened now. Should she hug him? Or kiss him? Or say she loved him too? She settled for wrapping her arms around him and landing a kiss on his chest--which was the easiest thing to reach at this height. "I love you too."

It took a few seconds for Danny to realize Lily had detached herself from him. He had taken too long to respond to her statement and frightened her. But the intensity of his statement had also taken her off guard. For a few seconds he was a bit frightened because he didn't think she was breathing, but then she moved and he himself let a breath out.
Her arms went around him once more and she kissed his chest - the highest part on him she could reach at that point in time - and tole her he loved her too. Danny smiled and lifted her up once more, spinning her around in the water, spraying water up. He held her to his body and kissed her intently, unable to believe how he could never have realized before that he had felt this for a girl who had always stood before him.

Lily laughed brightly as he twirled her around, half way between the air and the water, feeling the droplets whip up around her. It was so romantic she couldn't quite handle it and she'd never been happier to find his lips on hers again. It was the best feeling in the world, and to think, he had rated her more worth it than his desire to travel the world. And she'd never realized what a wonderful person he was until now. After all these years....
The kiss deepened even more, Lily catching a breath through her nose because she couldn't bare to pull away. Every line and curve of her body was pressed into him as he held her up, slightly off her toes. It was a wonderful feeling. His bare chest against her stomach as he held her. She'd never felt so close, so exposed. But she didn't even care.
