Lily listened to him talk and nodded as he mentioned his brother. She had talked to him. No wonder he had been looking at her funny, as if he knew something--which it turns out he did-- That made Lily blush a bit, knowing that his twin had figured out about them before either of them were sure.
"You talked about me in your sleep?" She repeated turning to him with a little smile, surprised. He'd dreamt about her? After one kiss? How romantic and adorable.... Lily grinned and shook her head a little bit. "You're so cute." She threw him a little glance at that to see how he'd react, but it was true. He really was more gentle, sincere and tender hearted than anyone thought, and she was found that very attractive. Danny was well rounded, a good guy with a few rough edges. That was just fine with her.
"Oh anywhere, I'll assume you don't want to eat with either of our families... but I guess it depends. Who do you want bombarding us with questions first? Family or everybody else?" Lily asked, because no matter where they ate, people were going to come up and ask them things, bother them about being together.

The back of Danny's neck burned red with embarrassment when Lily figured out he'd dreamed about her in his sleep and said how cute. He stared at the ground and shrugged and mumbled a few incoherent words that even he didn't know what they meant. It seemed Lily was a person that would be able to get him to say things he didn't usually tell people. His brother only knew so much about Danny because he talked in his sleep and therefore couldn't hide anything from him (also why he didn't always go home at night), but Lily it seemed could get Danny to reveal stuff just by asking him.
Danny thought for a second on that. Well, he really didn't want his family bombarding them with questions - it wouldn't be his parents that would be embarrassing but his sisters. And he'd rather be more prepared before he went to meet her family. So that meant..... "Everybody else," Danny said. She was right, people in the town didn't give others personal space, they would be straight forward and walk right up to them and ask them questions - first there would be gawking though. Lots of gawking. That's what you got with living in a small town.
"So what type of food do you feel like?" Danny asked as he began to walk.

Lily laughed. "Everyone else it is then." She said taking a turn town the center of town. "Its not like we have many options, we have Mac's or the diner." She chuckled again, small town, there were always little options for certain things, like food, but there was something wonderful about that. Nothing changed, it would always be a good place to get back to.
"So, the diner I guess." Lily shrugged lightly. She had nothing against Mac's, and maybe it would be a better choice, it would be full of middle aged men playing pool at the table in the corner who didn't give a damn about them. But there was also bound to classmates partying in the middle of the day, so the diner seemed alright with her. The waitresses would be a pain- but what could you do? Not much.
She figured he wouldn't object and headed for the place, everything was within walking distance in Oakwood, so it took them next to no time to arrive. She pushed sighed a little before pushing open the door, waiting for news to have already traveled this far. people in this town really needed more to do.

Yes, living in a small town they didn't have many choices, which, sometimes was a good thing sometimes was a bad thing. Sometimes he liked a choice, he wanted to try something different, and that was why he wanted to get out of town, but that was not something to think about at that particular time. No, that was something to think about later, much much later, for at that time Danny was very very happy.
Danny nodded as Lily said the dinner. Yes, he was glad she picked the diner, because he went to Mac's so many nights, and he'd almost never been to the diner. Plus, all of his friends would be at Mac's, and there would be many a questions. At the diner there would be less. The waitress, ya, but besides that, there wouldn't be that many people there at the current time, so there would be less questions for sure.
They were soon at the place (Oakwood really was small) and Danny heard Lily sigh before pushing the door upon. He chuckled and squeezed her hand. He knew exactly what she was thinking. News that people had seen them together at the Carnival would have already traveled so far. People really only had two things to do in Oakwood, gossip, and do things to create gossip. At that time in being he and Lily were the creators of gossip, giving the others a break from finding something to create gossip about, and gossip about them for a bit. The gossip had been getting low for a bit and a lot of people had been running on a thin wire.

Lily squeezed his hand back and smiled as they went in. It was crowded, but that was to be expected at lunch time. Sometimes she had lunch with her sister here. But she and Danny weaved through some people to find a table that wasn't quite in the center of everything. But she caught a few of her friends in a far booth give her a thumbs up and she laughed, sitting down across from Danny so she could look at him.
So far, so good.
The waitress who came over looked pleased that she was the one who was waiting on them, but Lily was slightly annoyed at how blunt she seemed to be about her interest. It was all in her body language, she wanted something to add to the gossip of the day. But she just ordered herself a glass of water and flipped open the menu, waiting for her to leave.
And when she did, she spoke to Danny. "Is our town really so boring that she has to watch us like that?" She asked with a little laugh and a shake of her head. Now she understood how Leo and Sophia felt.

The place was crowded and Danny realized it was later than he had realized, it was actually lunch time. He hadn't realized how long he had stayed at the Carnival for by himself. He and Lily weaved through the people, trying to get out of the limelight and into the more out of view area, though eyes still followed them. Danny saw a couple of Lily's friends give her thumbs up, and he turned his head to hide the smile that appeared on his face. The laugh that came from Lily just made it grow.
They sat down across from each other at a far booth, and a waitress came over. She looked smug that she was their waitress and would be the one to get the gossip first hand, and be the spreader of it. People could be oh so obvious at times, even he himself could tell what the girl was thinking. It was pretty sad.
Danny just ignored her as Lily ordered a water and he himself a coke, sending the waitress away with a frown as they hadn't yet given her anything juicy to spread. But when she came back, she'd bring questions. Danny copied Lily and opened his menu, though he laughed as he heard Lily's next words.
"Their hasn't been anything much interesting since Leo and Sophia's wedding, and that's old news, they've needed something for a while." Danny said, shaking his head, as he looked round the diner, seeing a few eyes flash away quickly as he met them, though some just continued to look. "Sad, really."

Lily laughed. "Leo and Sophia didn't get married yet, their just engaged." She corrected him. She was far more social than Danny was and she knew the gossip that went around the town. She also knew that Leo and Sophia would probably invite the whole town to their wedding and that would give everyone plenty to talk about. As far as she knew they hadn't even picked a date, but when they did and started buying things for it, people would be busy again. the couple would hate it, but Lily knew leo could handle a crowd, he never seemed flustered. "But yes, point taken."
The waitress returned, her smile toned down a little, as if now she were trying to seem normal. Lily had to smile at that, people were so obvious to her. She ordered herself a cheeseburger because she didn't really feel like a salad, which was normally what she ate. Not because she dieted or anything, she just genuinely liked them, but somehow that's not what she wanted to eat now. Danny out in his order and she left again.
Now they could really talk about whatever they wanted.
"Oh," Lily said suddenly, reaching into her back pocket. "Sorry, I had to fold it, but we can smooth the creases out." She said handing him the piece of paper. When he unfolded it he would see that it was the portrait she'd drawn of him that day in the field.

"Ya, ya, that's what I meant," Danny said waving his hand, but his point had been taken and the waitress returned to take their order. She seemed to have toned down her smile, though seemed to be having a hard time trying to maintain it that way. Danny had to keep himself from laughing and just ended up giving her an amused look.
Lily ordered a cheeseburger and Danny did the same, glad the waitress was gone once more, that time being gone for a while, until their orders were ready. They were even getting less looks than they had been before as more people turned back to their food, though the odd glance went their way. But those were easy to ignore, as those times Danny had been put in jail for the night he'd gotten those odd glances everywhere he went, and he'd long since learned to ignore them.
Danny took the piece of paper from Lily curiously, wondering what it was. When his eyes landed on it he was surprised, though he should have known. But once more, as when he'd seen her drawing of the sunset, Danny was speechless. "It's, wow," Danny said, smoothing out the paper as he looked at himself in pencil. "You're really good Lily. you know that, right?"

Lily chuckled a little, blushing slightly at the high praise. "You keep saying that I am. I think to think I'm pretty good." She said with a smile. "I had a really hard time with your eyes." Lily had actually not finished them until she'd gotten home it was just so hard to but tenderness in a bad boys eyes, but that's what she had seen. there was so much going on in him, and it all showed and she had tried so hard to get it to come out through the pencil.
She had unconsciously leaned forward over the table, looking at his eyes carefully, as if trying to decide if she had got it right. "But I figure I got pretty close." She decided finally, giving him a little smile. "You are far more complicated than you seem at first glance." Lily told him. Not only personality wise, but the way hi face was both hard and soft at once had proved a challenge.

Danny looked up and listened as she talked, leaning closer to her. He'd forgotten all the people around them and was just paying attention to her, who was starring into his eyes, as though trying to make sure she had gotten them right on the drawing. She was really specific with her drawing, always trying to get it perfect, in turn, always getting it, in his opinion, beyond perfect.
"But I figure I got pretty close. You are far more complicated than you seem at first glance."
Wow, it seemed as though she understood him more than even his parents did. Everybody just saw him as a trouble maker, one who loved to stir up trouble. They never understood that he didn't mean to cause trouble, he never did it on purpose. His parents never realized at night he didn't go home because he was too drunk and instead bunked it at a friends house, but that he usually ended up sleeping in a field (didn't they ever notice the nights he came home was when it was raining?) They'd put him off as one to get into trouble, always running off. They never realized that he didn't run off to where they thought.
"You have good eyes," Danny murmured to Lily, starring into them.
"Enough about me, though, what about you?" Danny asked, sitting up a little straighter, pulling himself out of the daze he'd gotten himself into.

Lily smiled a little. "Thank you." She said as he told her she had nice eyes. she was so wrapped up in him that she wasn't even really aware of where she was. The diner hardly mattered at all, and the look on Danny's face that seemed more relaxed than she'd ever seen him was so utterly captivating.
"What about me?" Lily asked with a smile, settling back into her seat, the intense moment between them over, the sound of the diner crashing into her ears. She'd always figured she was pretty straight forward, what did he want to know? What couldn't he figure out? She hardly thought she was anything interesting to talk about. Him on the other hand, no one really knew inside and out. He was the interesting one.

What about her? He really had no idea. Unlike him, she was pretty straight forward with herself, pretty open. But he wanted to know more about her, though, was their more about her to know? She probably thought anything he didn't know he wouldn't find interesting, but than, she was would be wrong at that part.
Before Danny could answer her question, the waitress (who's tag he now read to say "Jessica") arrived with their food. She placed it down on the table, but it wasn't the food he was looking at but her face, as it seemed to be trying (and horribly failing) to hide a smirk, and her eyes seemed excited. She turned and walked away quickly. It didn't take Danny long to find out what the look was for.
Danny laughed as he pulled a piece of paper out from under his plate. "Look at this," He said, handing the paper to Lily to read. On it was a list of questions for the two, a list of questions that Danny had been waiting to be bombarded with. That, however, was not the way he was expecting.

Lily just laughed as she took the list gingerly from him. She pulled a pen out of her pocket--she often walked around with something that she could draw with, though she rarely had scraps of paper on her. And in neat print letters she wrote the words 'none of your business' across the page. Then she set it aside. "If they want to learn something, they're going to have to work for it." She said with a laugh, looking at Danny.
She took a bit of her burger, followed by a few french fries that were on her plate. "But you wanted to know about me... well... I have a sister who's 17. I like to draw, obviously." She said, trying to think of anything interesting about herself. She'd never been good at describing herself. "I'm terrified of snakes, I want to go to NYC someday..."
Lily thought for another moment, looking at her plate as she took another fry. "Oh, I'm left handed--well, ambidextrous, but I mostly use my left. And I have a tattoo actually, I still don't think my parents have caught it yet." She titled her hand so he could see her right wrist where she had the word 'believe' printed in cursive.
Was that enough about her?

Danny watched as Lily neatly wrote 'none of your business' across the page and chuckled. "Yes, but you have to admit, that was a creative way of going about it." He mused before turning back as she went back to answering the question he had asked earlier. He too picked up his burger and took a bite, chewing as he listened intently to Lily's soft voice.
Yes, Danny knew about her sister, and the drawing, he glanced at the drawing once more, moving it slightly so no food would get on her work. Than she started to get into stuff he didn't know. Terrified of snakes? That he didn't know. And NYC? He wouldn't have thought her to be the type, but than again, there were things to see there, so, he could see it.
A tattoo? Well, he would never of guessed. When Lily tilted her hand to show him, he held onto her arm just below it so he could look at it closely. "I never figured you to be the type to hide something from your parents," Danny said as he looked at it, the word believe written in cursive. It did look like the type of thing she would do, and he liked it. He traced it with his finger, before letting go with a smile.

"I didn't hide it, I just never told them, there's a difference" Lily said, correcting him. "If they're unobservant, that's their problem. I'm nineteen anyway, allowed to make my own choices." She said explaining her reasoning. She remembered getting it. She'd been in the city with her friends after graduation last summer and they'd gone around dancing and somehow they ended up in a tattoo parlor, and Lily had to give it a try. Besides, the word 'believe' suited her, and it wasn't big.
"Besides, it's not like I just go up to my parents and tell them everything, I have some secrets." Most people had secrets from their parents.
"It hurt." She pouted with a little chuckle before dropping her hand and taking another bite of her burger. Lily had never exactly been one for pain, which is part of why she didn't like snakes, she was afraid to be bitten.
