"I didn't hide it, I just never told them, there's a difference. If they're unobservant, that's their problem. I'm nineteen anyway, allowed to make my own choices."
Lily corrected him, giving him her reasons. Danny just raised his eyebrows and nodded his head. He wasn't saying it was wrong of her, he had just thought her to be the type of girl to tell her parents. Well, he didn't think she told them everything, that she had secrets, but he thought this was one of the things she would tell them. But it seemed he was wrong about that, and he was glad he was getting to know her more.
"It hurt."
Danny chuckled, shaking his head. "I believe they always tell you it's going to be very painfully." Danny said with raised eyebrows.

"They did," Lily laughed. "Partly, I wanted to see how tough I was. Everyone tells me I'm a good person, but that I'm too weak to live in the real world. I wanted to prove them wrong." She looked away, as if she was very embarrassed to admit it. It wasn't like she hadn't/didn't like the tattoo. She did actually. But partly because it made her feel real.
She went back to eating for a while, keeping quiet as she did so, not sure what else to say, or what he was thinking now. Danny was known for being tough, strong, and Lily--she wasn't those things--at least not physically. Not that she was dating him because she wanted to seem tough, that hadn't even crossed her mind. But what if he started to not like her because she couldn't keep up.
"Just, nevermind, let's talk about something else." She said, trying to draw the spotlight off of her.

Danny smiled at her little explanation for the tattoo. "Well, I like it," He said as he finished his tattoo and started on his fries. Lily said that was enough about that, and she wanted to talk about something else. Danny was about to ask what when he spotted the watch on his wrist and saw the time.
"Oh shit," Danny said, jumping up, and slamming a hand against his head. "I promised to go back and help Johnny with this thing at the farm, and you need two people two do it, and the only one else at home is Elena, and mom and they can't do it." Danny rambled on as he pulled out his wallet, and - not knowing how much it was threw two twenty's on the table. "I'm sorry, maybe we can get together later, or something?"
Than, not caring that everybody could see, he kissed her once more on the lips. "See ya," He mumbled before leaving the diner.
